Press Release:
JIM KRANTZ - 2010's International Photographer of the Year
Renowned photographer Jim Krantz has been anointed the best of the best after winning International Photographer of the Year laurels at the prestigious Lucie Awards in New York City on October 27.
Krantz was singled out among 20,000 entrants from 103 nations for his synthesis of live-action footage, photography and animation on The Way of the West, an ambitious project shot over four days in the wilds of Colorado.
The artist embraces the technological revolution that merges still and motion photography, but the foundation of his aesthetic remains rooted in the actual shoot, not in digital post-visualization.
The Lucie win comes just as Krantz's lush new promotional book The Way of the West , inspired by his award-winning series, is released this November. The 128-page, full color book is packaged with a poster and a DVD in a custom made box.

As a commercial photographer Krantz shoots for a diverse roster of Fortune 100 clients. He is represented in the U.S. by Held & Associates (cynthiaheld.com) and in Europe by Shotview Photographer Management (shotview.com).
Distinctions between commercial and art photography blur in the transmedia work of Krantz, who finds time for personal projects. His fine art photography is represented by Danziger Projects in New York City (danzigerprojects.com).
Not more than 24 hours after the awards, he was on assignment, his proverbial 15 minutes of fame behind him. He is currently working on a project in Chernobyl illustrating life in the "Forbidden Zone" 25 years post the 1986 nuclear disaster.
"I'm right back at it."
