First...What is SEO?
I know it's not a new sushi menu item at my favorite restaurant (Seawood Eel & Octupus?)
I too am learning everyday about SEO and I can't get enough of it...
SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (try saying that 10 times fast)…heck I can't even say it once…hence why I use SEO!
So what is it?
WIKIPEDIA's definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_optimization
TRANSLATED…watch this: http://www.photoshelter.com/help/tut/seo
(prepare to laugh - gotta love good humor when related to education)
Who can help you with your OWN SEO?
LOOK HERE: http://www.photoshelter.com/about/index/certified-consultants
Who does it help?
….EVERYONE!
Why should you have it?
Because you can't survive without it (a little dramatic but I hope I got your attention)…
I believe in the theory of THIRDS (let me correct myself- THIS IS MORE OF MY WISH FOR ALL CLIENTS than THEORY):
My wish for everyone...
33% of your business comes from current existing clients
33% of your business comes from your ROCK STAR marketing campaigns that draw in NEW DREAM clients you want
33% of your business comes from you sitting on your couch enjoying the game…or HGTV (because your SEO is AMAZING)
So does it really work?
YOU BETCHA…
HARD EVIDENCE…
Orlando Florida Photographer Betsy Hansen is the perfect example…
She updated her site, edit & then her SEO. Her site in ONE WEEK got these stat results (and NO MARKETING at all)…and in ONE MONTH GOT THESE RESULTS still with no marketing but a strong website for NEW clients to find her...
CALL TO ACTION:
Google "BEST CITY STYLE PHOTOGRAPHY (i.e. Best Chicago Food Photographer or Photography) and see who you are really competing with. Then say to that person who is on PAGE ONE and NUMBER ONE (assuming it's NOT YOU)...
"GAME ON JOE BLOW, GAME ON!"
NOTE: I have seen ONE noted food photographer get to NUMBER 1 with his livebooks site. Betsy created her own. Don't fear SEO - embrace it! Do your research and find the right site for you and your work...and if you can't figure it out - HOLLER TO AN EXPERT FOR HELP!
