"Every morning when we wake up, we have 24 brand-new hours to live. What a precious gift!"
- Thich Nhat Hanh
Who doesn't want a fresh start? How often to do we say to ourselves... "I wish I sent that promo", "I need to follow up with that client", "I should have completed that project", "I don't want to shoot this type of work anymore"...etc.
I always preach to my clients that life happens and we work around that. Even when life feels like it could be better or things aren't the way you want them, life is on course. Examples I received just this past week from clients.
- A client sat on a couple drafted emails to existing clients (just to reach out and stay in touch) for weeks. Once I gave her the go ahead to send it...she sent it and a client responded that she was on her mind just the day before and it was perfect timing.
- Another client sent out an eblast the day a popular magazine was looking for a photographer. As he texted me late last night..."So this marketing thing really does work."
- Another client is being pulled into a new career direction. As their consultant, I cheered them on to follow their heart and trust last year's marketing was not a waste and it will come back to them. As a creative/marketing consultant who recommends continual marketing, you also have to stop and listen to one's heart.
It's no secret I consult with a simple approach (and a sqoosh of woowoo sprinkled in). I recenly wrote a blog post about starting fresh... Detoxing your Career on the Lab. It's a fun approach to clearing the junk in your head.
Today is a fresh new day. A day to start over. No regrets. Set an intention to do something for yourself...whether it be marketing, taking a new photo or reaching out to an old client.
